Rhizospheric Microbiome Responses to Cover Crop Suppression Methods

Although winter cover crops (WCCs) have demonstrated positive effects on soil properties, relatively little is known about the responses of and plant microbiomes to introduction WCCs their associated management. Our objective was evaluate WCC suppression methods rhizosphere microbiome oats under field conditions. Rhizospheric extracted quantify abundances amoA gene ammonia-oxidizing bacteria archaea, nitrite reductase genes (nirK nirS), determine potential nitrification activity. The bacterial 16S rRNA V4 region fungal ITS regions were sequenced with Illumina MiSeq system. Overall, our results indicated that composition communities sensitive methods. Some genera, including antagonists chitin degraders, two fungi pathogens, favored by both methods, yet negatively affected other genera growth promotion characteristics. work contributes a more complete understanding interactions between management practices, microbial in rhizosphere, which essential for choosing strategies maintain health promote environmental sustainability.
